The Aerodynamics and Stability/Control subteam is a great way to apply the principles of aerodynamics learned in the classroom. Many aerospace engineering classes directly parallel the skills used in the subteam, which can be helpful to those who are currently taking or will take aerospace engineering courses.

During the design phase of the project, the aero/stabcon team works hard using MATLAB software to generate the right airfoil along with the correct wingspan and wing chord dimensions to meet the desired lift and drag amounts. Changes in the design such as a modification to the control surfaces are verified by the aerodynamics team to ensure proper functioning aerodynamically. Other duties include choosing the correct incidence for the wing and stabilizer, CG placement, and static stability.

This subteam is an excellent choice for aerospace engineering majors but is open to anyone interested in the aerodynamics and control of aircraft.
