The Electronics subteam's main goal for each year is to design and build the electronic systems and subsystems for the aircraft. This challenge can be very different year to year due to design parameters of AIAA DBF being drastically different annually. Whether programming missiles to drop from our wings, keeping accurate GPS location of our plane, allowing FPV view during flight, or even creating computer assisted flight, the subteam tackles many different challenges each year.
Making use of the electronics room at the Student Design and Experiential Learning Center (SDELC), members on the subteam will gain experience with soldering, power plant design, circuitry design and building, various languages of coding, different types of wireless communication, software development, and hardware development. The subteam is an excellent option for computer and electrical engineering majors as well as computer science majors but anyone with an interest in electronics is welcome!
